Childrens Laughter

When childrens' laughter's nigh
'twill chase the slumber from my eye
when childrens laughter's close by
my dreary heart won't cry

Oh how dull our being has become
except for the lucky some
who trust their inner child
and know how to still be running wild

No longer being adolescent
they think their time is spent
They've long legs but not in use
getting older being their excuse

Wearing the weariest of grey
"You must and shall" is what they say
but all I'd like to do
is run through the greens with you

All I'd like to do
is watch the sky turn blue
